The aim is a face that reads as rested, not one that reads as treated. Most of the skill is in the dose, and most of the dose is in deciding what to leave alone.

Botox, Dysport and Xeomin in Mississauga

Wrinkle relaxers are a purified protein that tells a muscle to rest. Placed into the muscles that fold the skin, they soften the lines those folds leave behind. The skin itself is not touched. Movement returns gradually over three to four months, and the treatment is repeated when you want it, not on a schedule.

Skin&Co offers wrinkle relaxers in Mississauga inside a dermatology practice, so the person deciding your dose is a physician who has examined your skin. Lines that are already set into the skin, rather than made by movement, need a different answer, and we will tell you so.

What it treats

What wrinkle relaxers
treat well.

And a few things they do not. If your concern is not here, the consultation is where we work out what would actually help.

Concerns treated by wrinkle relaxers in MississaugaInjectables and Fillers
  1. Forehead lines

The horizontal lines that show when you raise your brows. The most requested area in Mississauga, and the one most often over treated. We dose to soften, not to freeze.

  2. Frown lines

The vertical lines between the brows, sometimes called the eleven. Softening these changes how rested a face reads more than any other single area.

  3. Crow's feet

Fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes. Treated lightly so you still smile with your eyes, which is the point of them.

  4. Bunny lines

The diagonal creases across the bridge of the nose when you scrunch. Small dose, quick, often missed.

  5. Lip flip

A few units along the upper lip border to let the lip turn outward slightly. Subtle, temporary, and an honest alternative to filler for some.

  6. Masseter slimming

Relaxing the jaw muscle to soften a square lower face, and to ease clenching and grinding. A larger dose, so we assess carefully first.

  7. Excessive sweating

Underarms, palms and soles. A medical use of the same product, and one of the few treatments here that can be partly insurance assisted.

S&C

How it works

How wrinkle relaxers work
at Skin&Co.

Four steps, in this order. Nothing is treated until it has been assessed, and nothing is repeated until it has been reviewed.

Wrinkle Relaxers in Mississauga, step 1: assessment
01

Assessment

A physician examines how your face moves before deciding anything. Which muscles are doing the work, which lines are dynamic and which are already set. A good share of first consultations end with less treatment than the patient came in expecting.

Results

Wrinkle Relaxers results,
and when to expect them.

The Skin&Co treatment room in Mississauga
Twenty minutes, then your day.No numbing, no marks to speak of, and you drive yourself home.
Day 0

Treatment day

Twenty minutes in the chair. A few small raised bumps at the points that settle within the hour. Avoid lying flat or rubbing the area for four hours. Otherwise, a normal day.

Day 3 to 5

First change

Movement in the treated muscles begins to soften. Lines start to ease. This is not the result yet, so do not judge it here.

Day 14

The real result

Full effect. This is what we booked your review for, and the point at which any adjustment is made. Judging earlier leads to over treatment.

Month 3 to 4

Wearing off

Movement returns gradually, not all at once. Come back when you notice it, not before. Repeated treatment over years tends to lengthen the interval slightly.

When we say no

When we decline
wrinkle relaxers.

We do not treat in these situations, and we will say so in the consultation, which you are not charged for.

  • Lines that are set into the skin rather than made by movement. Relaxing the muscle will not reach them, and we will suggest what would.
  • A face that is already at rest in the areas you are asking about. Treating it adds nothing and risks a flat look.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Not because of evidence of harm, but because there is not enough evidence of safety.
  • An active skin infection or breakout at the treatment site. We wait.
  • A neuromuscular condition, or certain medications. We will ask, and we will check.
  • Expectations the treatment cannot meet. We would rather lose the appointment than the trust.

Questions

Wrinkle Relaxers
questions, answered.

The Skin&Co consultation room in Mississauga
How long do wrinkle relaxers take to work?

You will see the first change at three to five days and the full effect by fourteen. We book your review after the fourteen day mark so we are judging the real result, not a partial one.

How long do wrinkle relaxers last?

Three to four months for most people. It shortens with very expressive faces and lengthens slightly with repeated treatment over years. We do not book you on a fixed cycle. You come back when it has worn off, not before.

Will I look frozen?

Not here. The look people fear comes from dosing every muscle to zero. We dose to soften movement, and we would rather have you back for a top up than send you out over treated.

Botox, Dysport or Xeomin: which is better?

They are the same class of product with small differences in spread and onset. The physician chooses based on the area and on what has worked for you before. You are welcome to ask for a specific one.

Does the treatment hurt?

A few seconds of a fine needle per point. Most people describe it as a small pinch. No numbing is needed and there is no downtime. You can drive yourself home.

What if I do not like the result?

The effect is temporary, which is one of its virtues. Tell us at the fourteen day review and we adjust the plan. If it was our dosing, the correction is on us.
